The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Samuel Njoroge, has challenged Parliamentary staff to embrace the spirit of teamwork and strategic delegation of duties for better output.ย

Speaking while addressing a joint retreat of officers drawn from the Directorate of Departmental Committees and that of Audit, Appropriations and General-Purpose Committees, Mr. Njoroge noted that accountability of the institution of Parliament to Kenyan Citizens was paramount, hence the need for teamwork.

"I commend officers who go beyond their conventional roles and use innovation in the execution of their duties. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. I challenge us to work more closely to realize the institutionโ€™s objectives,โ€ noted Mr. Njoroge.

The Clerk also reflected on emergent challenges in the public service, especially regarding Parliament and impressed upon the Committee Clerks to serve Members of Parliament with more dedication to deliver on the expectations of Kenyan citizens.ย

"Learning never ends, and we must never get tired of feedback, whether positive or negative. It is a calling to serve the public by facilitating their representatives," Mr. Njoroge observed.ย

The meeting was convened to build synergy between the two Directorates that are responsible for the running of National Assembly Committees which are the engine of Parliamentary work.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming fourth session of the National Assembly.
