Speaker’s Panel
The Speaker’s Panel is established pursuant to Standing Order 20 of
the Senate Standing Orders. The panel comprises four Members of Parliament known
respectively as First, Second, Third and Fourth Panelists who are
entitled to exercise all the powers vested in the Chairperson of
Committees of the Whole. The Members of the Panel are nominated by the
Speaker in consultation with the parliamentary party whips, after
which the list is submitted to the Senate Business Committee for
consideration for appointment to the panel.
