Nyeri Senator, Hon. Wahome Wamatinga has been sworn in as the new Commissioner to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
The swearing in ceremony was held at the PSC headquarters at County hall was presided over by Speaker of the National Assembly Rt Hon (Dr) Moses Wetang'ula who is also the PSC chairman.
Hon. Wamatinga replaces Laikipia Senator, Hon. John Kinyua who resigned recently.
Hon. Wetang'ula as he congratulated Hon. Wamatinga upon assumption of his new position in the Commission, urged him to adhere to the oath office that entails confidentiality, faithfulness and allegiance to the Constitution." I have known Senator Wamatinga as a steadfast politician who does not engage in the toxic politics of the country. I am confident that he will add tremendous value to the Commission," said Hon. Wetang'ula.
Dr. Wetangโula noted that Commissioners are ready to work with Hon. Wamatinga as they discharge their constitutional mandate of addressing the welfare of parliamentarians and staff among other duties.
"We want you to settle very fast and support the Commission's role of promoting intra-parliamentary relationships with other arms of government which include the Executive and Judiciary," he added.
He noted that PSC Commissioners work as a team and hoped that he will join in the same spirit to deliver on their agenda.
The Speaker told Hon. Wamatinga that the Commission will provide him with more opportunities that will enable him serve Nyeri people effectively.
"The position of a Commissioner comes with extra benefits that will make you a better Senator to serve your people better," he added.
Commissioners Hon. Mohammed Ali, Hon. Mishi Mboko and Hon. Patrick Makau welcomed Hon. Wamatinga to PSC and assured him of their unwavering support.
"I congratulate Hon. Wamatinga on your appointment. We at the Commission work as a team and we are sure you will strengthen the team," said Hon. Mboko who is also the Likoni MP.
Hon. Ali said he was looking forward to a good working relationship with Hon. Wamatinga at the Commission.
Hon. Makau noted that he was sure that Hon Wamatinga was going to add value to the Commission and pledged his support to him.
Hon. Wamatinga in his acceptance speech said this was an exciting moment for him as a politician noting that he was grateful for the privilege granted to him.
"I take this opportunity to thank the Senate for approving my appointment to PSC" he added.
He said he was ready to learn noting that nobody had a monopoly of knowledge over the other.
Commissioners Hon. Mishi Mboko, Hon. Patrick Makau and Hon. Mohammed Ali, National Assembly Clerk, Mr. Samuel Njoroge, Senate Deputy Clerk Mohammed Ali and Director Speakerโs Office Mr. Steve Apopo were among officers present.
