Senator Wamatinga takes oath as PSC Commissioner

Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga has officially been sworn in today as a Commissioner of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) by the Speaker of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the PSC, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetangโula.
Senator Wamatingaโs appointment was confirmed after gaining approval from the Senate on November 19, 2024, and the National Assembly on November 26, following the resignation of Laikipia Senator John Kinyua.
In accordance with Article 74 of the Constitution, Senator Wamatinga took the oath of office in a ceremony led by the PSC Chairperson, the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetangโula. The event was attended by PSC Commissioners, including Nyali MP, Mohamed Ali, Hon. Mishi Mboko and Mavoko MP. Hon. Patrick Makau.
Congratulating the new Commissioner, Speaker Wetangโula welcomed Senator Wamatinga and emphasized the collaborative nature of the Commission.
โWe encourage you to come in with a team-building spirit, with a consensus attitude, and with a hope that you add tremendous value to the work of the Commission which includes the welfare of Members, the welfare of staff, the management of parliamentary assets, the relationship between Parliament and the Executive, Parliament and the Judiciary, and both inter and intra-parliamentary relationships,โ said the Speaker.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Wamatinga expressed gratitude to both Houses of Parliament for unanimously approving his appointment. He also thanked the Commission Chairperson and the Commissioners for their support throughout the process.
โMy commitment to my fellow Commissioners is that I will bring the teamwork spirit because Iโm a flexible person, prepared to listen and learn. Most importantly, I believe this country belongs to all of us and our major obligation is to unite Kenyans and build one nation under one President,โ the Nyeri Senator stated.
