Women Lawmakers engage Amrita University Hospital, UNESCO on Gender and Technology

A delegation of women legislators led by Samburu County MP, Hon. Pauline Lenguris has today spearheaded an initiative to explore the intersection of Gender, Health and Technology.
On their 1st day of the 4-day International Conference on Gender and Technology 2025, Hon. Lenguris in company of Narok County MP. Hon. Rebecca Tonkei toured Amrita University Hospital and held discussions with the hospital management and UNESCO representatives on harnessing technology for transformative change.
The members of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) were introduced to the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and encouraged to use AI in their day to day activities.
The Amrita University Hospital showcased its AI advanced powered systems including robotic liver transplant, use of AI in detecting epilepsy, early childhood abuse and auto immune diagnosis for various diseases including cancer.
The two women MPs also took part in the inauguration of the conference for lamp lighting and honorary chair address by the Chancellor of Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University), Amma.
The Conference brings together policymakers, civil society, researchers, government representatives across the world for intergenerational and interdisciplinary dialogue to explore how emerging technologies like AI can influence gender representation and societal norms as well as technological advancements on political representation and policy making.
This initiative will feature academic paper presentations and keynote speeches from Hon. Lenguris and Hon.Tonkei among other stakeholders and invited guests.
