Senator Chute raises a red flag over Marsabit County Assembly’s pending bills

Sen. Mohamed Chute (Marsabit) has raised a red flag on the large amounts of pending bills that the Marsabit County Assembly owes to contractors.

While seeking a Statement from the Standing Commitee on Finance and Budget this afternoon, the Legislator tasked the Budget Committee to find out the reasons for the delays by Marsabit County Assembly in settling its pending bills and inform the House the amount that the county assembly owes to contractors. 

Sen. Chute requested the Sen. Ali Roba-led Committee to submit a report from the committee formed by the Governor to review pending bills and provide a comparison with the findings of the County Assembly of Marsabit, following its consideration of the Auditor-General's report on the matter, and highlight any discrepancies. 

"The Committee should furnish the Senate with information on the budget allocations approved by the Marsabit County Assembly, specifying the sectors, key projects and cxpenditure areas covcred bc tween the Financial Year 2013/2014 to date, as well as any supplementary budgets that have been approved over the same period," the Marsabit Senator said. 

The Budget Committee will subsequently provide the Senate with a list of suppliers and contractors engaged by the county for the implementation of approved projects.
